On 19th January, the Muslim Association of Britain has elected its first female president Raghad Altikriti.
“It is an honour to be elected as the first female President of the Muslim Association of Britain, to represent and serve our members from all across the country," Altikriti said upon her appointment.
As a new leader she looks forward to working with all branches and departments of the Association to strengthen Muslim ties to civil society and to bring and promote continued unity and mutual understanding among the community.
Altikriti previously served as the Vice President and Head of Media, having been involved with the organisation since its inception. Her historic election and incredible dedication to the organisation has long served as inspiration for many and has continued to pave the way for many to get involved, MABonline reports.
A New Chapter
It is during this critical time that the election of the first female president marks a new chapter for the organisation and British Muslims alike.
Altikriti stated, “While we’re proud of this moment, there’s so much more work that needs to be done. We hope this will pave the way to support more female participation and bridge the gender disparity across the different levels."
New MAB president says, she will continue to ensure that British Muslims successfully celebrate and elevate their contributions of across the country to civil society and beyond.
