Object Sexuality
Вопрос:
How does the religion of Islam view object sexuality?

Wa `alaykum as-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

1- Object sexuality or objectophilia is a form of sexual or romantic attraction focused on particular inanimate objects. (Wikipedia)

2- It is inconceivable for a Muslim man to be married to other than a human female. Likewise, it is unthinkable for a Muslim woman to be married to other than a human male. Therefore, the idea of object sexuality is totally forbidden in Islam.

Responding to the question in point, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:

Marriage in Islam is a union between two humans, a male and a female. The fact that Allah has appointed spouses for us from our human species is a principle deeply entrenched in the Quran. Here are a few verses to that effect:

{And among His signs of Allah is that He created spouses for you from yourselves that you may feel at home with them, creating love and compassion between you. Surely there are signs in that for people who reflect.} (Ar-Rum 30:21)

{And Allah made for you spouses from yourselves, and he made for you children and grandchildren from your mates and provided for you of the wholesome things. Will they then believe in the falsehood, denying the favors of Allah?} (An-Nahl 16:72)

{The Creator of the heavens and the earth; He has made for you spouses from yourselves, and pairs of pasturing animals creating you in this way. There is nothing like Him, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.}  (Ash-Shura 42:11)

In light of these, it is inconceivable for a Muslim man to be married to other than a human female. Likewise, it is unthinkable for a Muslim woman to be married to other than a human male.

Any different idea like the idea of object sexuality is repugnant to the Islamic conscience.

Each of the species has its mates. Sexual fulfilment is the only objective of marriage in Islam. Procreation and forging a partnership (based on mutual interests) to accomplish vital tasks in society are other important purposes.

Each of the spouses fulfils a complementary role in marriage. The wife assumes the role of a mother and caregiver (in case of procreation). The husband assumes the role of a provider and maintainer.

For sure, a person (male or female) may sometimes develop a fetish or disorder. It could be due to influences in the environment or the way he or she was brought up and the experiences that condition their inclinations and likes and dislikes.

Therefore, we cannot consider them as the standard.  In other words, they are not healthy or normal. Such disorders should be treated as they are not healthy or normal.

We may do well to bear in mind that our Creator alone knows what is best for His creation. Allah alone is All-Knowing and All-Wise. He has revealed His laws solely for our benefit and well-being. He is All-Sufficient.

I pray to Allah to instil in us absolute conviction in the ultimate wisdom of the Divine Order and keep us steadfast on the path of truth.”

Allah Almighty knows best.
